Lalah Hathaway made her debut recording in 1990 and has been a household name since. The daughter of the late, great Donny Hathaway has been widely referred to as one of the best adult contemporary vocalist.

Her new album Lalah Hathaway Live will be released Friday, October 30 and she says she hopes its a composite to her father’s Donny Hathaway Live.

Recording on the same stage as her father in Los Angeles:

“It’s recorded in the same room, on the same stage.  I knew I always wanted to do it, but I didn’t know when. I always wanted to record a live album but there’s always a reason people say you shouldn’t do it…and then I won a Grammy for a live record.”

Remaking Anita Baker’s ‘Angel’:

“I had to let her hear before anybody else so I had to make sure she signed off on it. I’ve been singing it forever. I had to make it extra special good.”

Lalah Hathaway’s new singles ‘Little Ghetto Boy’ and ‘Angel’ are out now.
