Perhaps former CNN talk show host Pierce Morgan failed to realize that the Barclays Center is in the United States, specifically Brooklyn, N.Y., not the United Kingdom.

In a Rachel Ray segment scheduled to air Thursday, Morgan excoriates Cleveland Cavalier star LeBron James (pictured right) for, uh, touching Kate Middleton (pictured middle) after a game Monday against the Brooklyn Nets, the Orlando Sentinel reports. Prince William (pictured left) and his wife, Middleton, attended the game.

“You do not put your arm around the future queen of England!” Morgan lectured.

“You do not touch a member of the royal family unless they ask you to touch them or extend their hand. LeBron James, you may call yourself King James—you are not a real king. Prince William is going to be my king, that was his wife—hands off the duchess…. Do not touch the royals! They are immortal creatures. If they extend a hand, you gently touch it and say hello. You do not put your sweaty arm, after a game of basketball, around a member of the royal family.”

Yes, it was a breach of “royal protocol,” but if the duke and duchess were able to shrug it off, why can’t Morgan, the former host of CNN’s “Pierce Morgan Live?” This is not “a thing,” and Morgan needs to realize that the U.S., is no longer under British rule. For clarity, he should see the Declaration of Independence.
