The ACLU claims Baltimore police are violating people’s privacy in a way that’s intrusive and illegal by tapping into their cell phones using a device called “Stingray,” a small portable device that mimics a cell phone tower, forcing all cell phones within range to connect, allowing access to cell records, text messages and even the precise location.

Stingray (1)“We think it should not be used by police in Baltimore or anywhere else without a warrant,” said David Rocah, a senior staff attorney for the ACLU.
