Black History Month always means good things are on TV that you don’t usually see. The Color Purple author Alice Walker is profiled on PBS this weekend, and if you missed it, you can still catch American Promise online, the documentary that follows two black males and their families through their educational experience from kindergarten through high school graduation. There’s a new book that collects important stats about African-Americans which you can use to dazzle your friends if nothing else, and Toni Braxton and Babyface combine for a live concert on TV One on Sunday night. Oh, and the Winter Olympics from Sochi, Russia begin this week; check it out to see Black Winter Olympians like Shani Davis and hurdler turned bobsledder Lolo Jones go for the hold and make new Black history.
