In a case that is as close to the Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman scenario as you can get, the shooter is going to jail. Trevor Dooley is a Florida resident who used a legally possessed weapon to protect himself and used the states Stand Your Ground law in his defense. As the story goes, Dooley, the then 69 year old black man, got into an argument with a teen who was breaking rules by skateboarding on a B-Ball court. A 41 year old white male decided to defend the kid and reportedly began fighting the older man. A shot was fired and David James, the white man, was shot. Just as many have suspected, the stand your ground defense was not accepted, even though Dooley reportedly attempted to walk away before being followed by the man he wound up shooting.
