(Washington, DC)  —  The Supreme Court could rule as soon as today on a key provision in the Voting Rights Act of 1965.  There is a challenge to Section 5 of the law designed to deal with voter discrimination at the state and local levels.  It requires jurisdictions with a history of racial prejudice to get federal approval before making electoral changes.
