The FBI is now involved in the investigation of several smash and grab robberies at Washington area jewelry stores.  In February, four suspects entered a Zales at Pentagon City, smashed jewelry cases with hammers and got away with nearly 130-thousand-dollars worth of jewelry.  The next day a group of men carried out a similar crime at Frederick’s Colonial Jewelers and several weeks later, four men stole more than 600-thousand-dollars worth of watches from Tourneau at the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City.  The FBI has joined the investigation because the robberies are happening during the daytime in multiple jurisdictions and they are concerned about the possible violence.
