Artist bio:

Kevon Smith was born in North West D.C. on June 11th, 1988.  Although quiet, as a baby he took to rhythm and loved to be active. Through out his early years in grade school, he began to nurture his newfound love for music.  At the age of 6 Kevon saw the MTV Music Awards for the first time and from then on, he knew what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. Now at the age 24, Kevon has been blessed to share the stage with Kim Burrell, Dave Hollister and Donnie McClurkin. He’s also been fortunate to build a personal relationship with the CEO of Hidden Beach Records, Charles Whitfield. He was afforded the opportunity to tour and record with the Wilberforce University Choir also featured on the soundtrack for the motion picture: “Amazing Grace.” Kevon sang background for Marvin L Winans, and was requested by Wynton Marsalis to sing for one of his productions at the Lincoln Theater in New York. Kevon’s rendition of 112’s “Cupid” won Dayton’s Hot 102.9’s indie artist contest and was played for 4 consecutive days. As an indie artist he ran Wilberforce University’s very own 97.5 WURS hosting a variety of radio shows, on air contests and feature spots for up and coming artists. Kevon has an extensive knowledge of music theory, chord building, harmonics and an acute love for dissonance. He hopes to one day pair up with a label, group or company that’s as creatively fearless and intuitive as he is. He harbors a genuine love for his craft and holds himself to a creative standard. Ultimately, to make a positive and equal contribution to music as the artist’s who’ve inspired him is his goal. To leave behind a legacy that will inspire the platinum artists and musicians of tomorrow is his dream.“In The hearts of the Truly Great, perfection is never achieved – only endlessly pursued”
