The events to celebrate Chuck Brown’s life and legacy are finally set in stone. Last week, Mayor Vincent Gray and the Brown family officially announced that there will be a public viewing on the first floor of the Historic Howard Theatre from 11 am to 10 pm today. There will be a public memorial service at Walter E. Washington Convention Center from noon until 3 pm on Thursday.

The public is encouraged to use public transportation, as parking will be limited and the surrounding streets will be closed.

UPDATE: The casket arrived at Howard Theatre earlier this morning and was placed right below the stage. according to NBC Washington. T. Street is now closed and there will be more closures throughout the day, including 9th Street NW to Florida Ave NW and 7th and 8th Streets between Florida and S. Streets.
