I was joking with DJ Rico this week about Dunbar High School graduate Vernon Davis. I watched last weekends game and saw him put the team on his back and lead them to a victory with catch after catch. I watched as his emotions took over after the final catch, and I joked about him crying. I don’t know Vernon personally, but I did get to know Mike Singletary, his former coach. I remembered the game that Singletary told Vernon to go to the locker room. As I watched Vernon cry after the victory last Sunday, I wondered if what Mike said to Vernon helped him get to where he was always expected to be, one of the best tight ends in the NFL.
