Washington, DC- Radio One DC Station WMMJ-FM -(Majic 102.3)“Know Your Status” HIV/AIDS Concert will be held December 21st, 2011 at The 930 Club located at 815 V Street, NW Washington, DC from 7pm until 10pm.
The concert will feature artists such as The God-Father of Go-Go Chuck Brown; Singers CJ Hilton; Elle Varner and Rapper Wale, “Our goal is to help raise awareness about the importance of getting an HIV/AIDS test which will give people increased knowledge of their status and options for care in the event they are positive,” said Radio One, Inc. Regional Vice President/DC Market Manager Chris Wegmann.
The Washington Metropolitan area is in the battle against HIV/AIDS. Most recent statistics shows that at least 3 percent of District residents have HIV or AIDS, a total that far surpasses the 1 percent threshold that constitutes a “generalized” and severe “epidemic according to the Department of Health.
Throughout the entire month of December WMMJ-FM has tested more than 1000 residents for the disease. The final testing day will be held during the “Know Your Status” Concert.
