Congratulations to Pamela Padgett Pelham: The Majic Phenomenal Woman of the Month for December 2011.

Each Month Majic 102.3 honors local women who are making positive strides in our community.

Pamela Padgett Pelham serves as the Executive Director of Inspiring Knights The Pittman Padgett Scholarship Foundation (IKPPSF) Inc.

Pamela established the 501c3 non-profit organization, eight years ago (in May 2003) as a tribute to the education her family received from the DC Public School system. More importantly, IKPPSF intention is to build a relationship with todays youth and “Invest in Our Future Leaders, Today”. The foundation has targeted schools in Southeast Washington DC., Ward 8. This ward is known as one of the poorest areas in the city.

The organization is dedicated to enhancing educational opportunities for students attending DC Public Schools (DCPS). It continues to provide academic supplies and uniforms to disadvantaged students to enhance their academic pursuits. The organization has given monies Frank W Ballou Senior High School and continues to partner with Turner Elementary School and provides school uniforms and supplies.

IKPPSF goal is to continue to provide disadvantaged students financial assistance so they can take full advantage of the educational opportunities offered by the public school system.

The Foundations mission is to raise vital funds that will help offset expenses to students attending Washington DC Public schools in purchasing desperately needed school supplies.

Since the non-profit organization’s inception, the range of students impacted has expanded from 10 to 200 students. Pamela was raised in Washington DC and is a graduate of DC Public Schools. She regularly and unselfishly devotes her time and energy assisting and supporting DCPS students.

Her mission is to minimize a child financial or monetary concern in order to allow them to direct their attention toward learning. Pamela’s goal is to empower children to seek a quality education. Additionally, she stresses the importance of giving back to the community. Whether she is coordinating fundraising events or personally mentoring a child, Pamela always remains diligent in her efforts.
