(Washington, DC) — Principals in the DC school system are getting a raise. Under a new payscale that was retroactively put into effect at the start of this school year, the average salary of a DC Public School Principal will rise to 123-thousand dollars. An elementary school principal will start with a 100-thousand-dollar salary. The highest salary that could be doled out to a high school principal would be 174-thousand dollars. But while the principals are getting a raise, assistant principals and other staff members aren’t, which has some school leaders upset. DC Schools Chancellor Kaya Henderson tells the Post they’re next in line for a bump in pay.
