LARGO, Md.—Prince George’s Community College (PGCC) will recognize Team Builders Academy students at a completion ceremony June 29, 5 p.m. in Largo Student Center, Community Room B.  Team Builders is a PGCC Workforce Development cohort-based accelerated adult career training program matching eligible unemployed Prince George’s County residents with local employers by providing job readiness related soft skills training combined with occupational trades-related technical skills education.

“PGCC will be honoring 18 adults for their successful participation in Team Builders Academy,” said Jerome T. Countee Jr., director of workforce development.  “These participants completed a 12-week program which focused on construction and information technology that is nationally benchmarked to support achievement of professional credentials and industry-specific certifications, and directly aligned with local employment opportunities,” added Countee.

Team Builders Academy began in April 2009 and was inspired by former Prince George’s County Council member Tony Knotts who recognized a need for a specialized job training program to support his community.  Team Builders Academy is now open to all eligible adult residents of Prince George’s County who are chronically unemployed and eager to enter the workforce but need training, guidance and assistance to establish a solid career path.
