We all know the benefits of social networking websites like Facebook and Twitter, which help us keep in touch with friends and family members who we may not be able to talk to daily. However, who would have ever thought that the benefits of tweeting would come this far. A homeless man living in New York City used Twitter to actually reconnected with his daughter whom he had not been in contact with in eleven years.

Daniel Morales, a 58 year old homeless man living in New York City became an official “tweeter” about three weeks ago. He was apart of “Underheard in New York”which is a project geared towards the homeless population in NYC. The project gives homeless people cell phone in attempts to give them a voice.

Morales last saw his daughter, 27 year old Sarah Rivera, in 2000 when they were living together in Puerto Rico. Soon after Morales moved to Harlem, NYC and lost his job and home. He was given a prepaid cell phone from the organization and was told to just update his followers about his daily life.

Morales tweeted a picture of his daughter which in turn lead one of his followers to contact Sarah on Facebook. Sarah immediately knew it was her father, and the two arranged to meet in person in NYC.

According to CNN.com, Morales will continue to live as a homeless man however, hopes that he will rekindle a relationship with his family.
