(Baltimore, MD)  —  The Maryland Senate could take a final vote on a same-sex marriage bill today.  Legalized gay marriage inched one step closer to reality in Maryland Wednesday after the state Senate voted to advance the measure.  Under the legislation, religious organizations would not be required to participate in gay weddings and lawmakers shot down an amendment that would have allowed Catholic Charities and other adoption service providers to refuse gay couples.  If the bill clears the Senate, the measure will head to the House, where it’s likely to pass.  Governor Martin O’Malley has said he would sign the bill.
