Pop icon Janet Jackson has been nominated for the 2016 Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. Though not a surprise, what is surprising is why has it taken so long. According to Billboard magazine, “Acts are eligible for the Rock Hall 25 years after the release of their first recording, album or single — 1990 or before for this year’s nominees.” Janet’s first album, Janet Jackson (while not successful) did chart in 1982, which would make her first year of eligibility 2007.

Controversial yet extremely important rap group, NWA was also nominated…for the fourth time. They join Chaka Khan, The JB’s, Chic and The Steve Miller Band among others.
