Shaunie O’Neal is reportedly in talks to turn her VH1 hit reality show “Basketball Wives” into a movie. Shaunie is said to have enlisted “Jumping The Broom” creator Tracey Edmonds to help bring the cat fights and bitch slaps to the big screen.
According to Variety, Tracey and Shaunie pitched the idea and Fox Searchlight took the bait. Edmonds who worked on ‘Jumping the Broom’ will bring on the writer of said film Elizabeth Hunter to write the script of the currently untitled film.
The movie will be based loosely on the lives of O’Neal and some of her friends. It will center around a young woman who follows her boyfriend to Miami after he gets drafted into the NBA. Thrust into the world of professional sports, she meets the other players’ wives and learns from their trials and tribulations.
