After bringing a chained kangaroo on stage during one of his shows in Detroit last weekend, Mike Epps landed himself in the hot seat with the Department Of Agriculture.  The comedian turned actor was accused of animal abuse by the PETA animal rights group for wrongfully causing distress to an innocent animal being paraded on stage.

The organization’s senior VP rep Lisa Lange stated to The Hollywood Reporter, “Traumatic situations can be fatal to kangaroos who are not hardy animals, and this individual was subjected to a great deal of stress by being dragged in front of a boisterous crowd and forced to dance.”

The Department of Agriculture followed up on PETA’s abuse claim and stated that the Animal Welfare Act requires all handlers to be “in control of the animal at all times.”  Epps later apologized for his kangaroo stunt via social media after receiving huge backlash from fans as far as Australia.

Let’s just hope the licensed zoo keepers that handled the kangaroo has learned their lesson and doesn’t find themselves under investigation or out of a career. Do you think people overreacted or was Mike Epps doing too much in this video? Tell us your thoughts below.
