Joe “Jellybean” Bryant, the father of the late Kobe Bryant, has died. Bryant was 69. Joe Bryant was an NBA player for 8 seasons playing for the Golden State Warriors, the Sixers, Clippers and Rockets. La Salle University, where Bryant played and coached, said in a statement that Bryant “was a beloved member of the Explorer family and will be dearly missed.”

Judge Ural Glanville, the judge presiding over the RICO indictment against Atlanta rapper Young Thug and his associates, has been removed from the case. Judge Glanville was accused of holding a meeting with the prosecution and a witness without the defense present. It’s reported that he wasn’t removed for conducting the meeting but for how he responded to the allegations.

The 2024 Primetime Emmy Awards nominations will be announced this morning by Tony Hale and Sheryl Lee Ralph live from the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles. Winners will be announced at the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards on September 15.

NASA reports Missy Elliott’s “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly),” took nearly 14 minutes to travel all the way to the planet Venus, which is about 158 million miles. The agency transmitted the song to the planet via radio antennas. Missy tweeted, “My song ‘The Rain’ has officially been transmitted all the way to Venus, the planet that symbolizes strength, beauty and empowerment. The sky is not the limit, it’s just the beginning.”; Snoop Dogg opened his first licensed cannabis dispensary in L.A. The dispensary is named S.W.E.D. for Snoop’s popular catch phrase “Smoke Weed Every Day,” Snoop launch of a limited-edition line of Death Row Cannabis products honoring legendary rapper 2Pac.
