Sarah Sims of Norfolk, Virginia didn’t expect to be heading to jail when she tried to intervene with her daughter’s elementary school bully.

Sims claims she was concerned her daughter was being bullied so she emailed and called Ocean View Elementary for answers but never heard back from anyone.

She decided to take matters into her own hand by putting a recording device in her daughter’s book-bag and a teacher found it, alerting police.

Sims was charged with using a device to intercept oral communications, which carries a maximum five-year sentence and a misdemeanor for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Sims says, “The thing that bothers me the most is that I am yet to get a response from anyone in the administration. If I’m not getting an answer from you what am I left to do?”
