What’s the first thing you’d do if your significant other died in your presence? Most of us would probably call family members and authorities right? Russell Davison of Derby, England doesn’t agree.

Instead of having his wife’s dead body hauled off to the mortuary, he washed and dressed her corpse and put it in a coffin right there in his bedroom.

The 50 year old couple have four children together and Russell says it allowed him and the boys to come to terms with a devastating loss. The wife Wendy battled cervical cancer for 10 years without seeking any chemotherapy or radiotherapy and made the decision to die at home with her family.

About his wife’s death wishes Russell said, “I did not want her in the mortuary or handed over to a funeral director, I wanted us to take care of her ourselves at our family home, and have her in our bedroom so I could sleep in the same room.”

Would you subscribe to the idea of having a dead family member being kept at home to allow the family time to mourn?  Watch more about this story below and tell us if you agree.
