Darlene is a single parent of 3 children ages 16, 12, and 7 years old. Each of the kids has a different father. She divorced the father of her youngest child last summer. Her 2 oldest sons have always spent the summer with their fathers. Darlene asked her ex if he’ll keep their 7 year old daughter this summer and he replied no because he has to work. Darlene offered to pay for daycare while he’s at work, but the answer was still no.
The two have a joint custody agreement, but her ex barely picks up their daughter throughout the school year and Darlene thinks he’s being petty. Darlene is wondering; how can she convince her ex get more involved in their daughters life and to keep her over the summer? What advice can you offer Darlene?
