3’rd times a charm!  James Earl Jones is to receive his third Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement. Known for prominent roles on screen in “Coming to American” and “Fences,” to his distinctive voice as Darth Vader and Mufasa in Disney’s “The Lion King”, James Earl Jones has achieved great success.    His greatest moment of success, was overcoming the ability to speak.

Mr. Jones migrated from Mississippi to Michigan at age of five with his grandparents.  The experience was so traumatic he was unable to speak and when he did, it was with a stutter. James Earl Jones did not speak for eight years.  After entering High School, he was guided by his teacher to speak again.  Here is where the first step of his Lifetime Achievement began.  Thanks to Donald Crouch, the teach Mr. Jones attributes his ability to overcome his stutter; we are blessed with the richness of the voice of Mr. Jones. This special award will be given to Mr. Jones on June 11 is well earned.
