The first round pick of 1965 to the Chicago Bears, Gale Sayers, is now 73 years old and suffering from severe dementia. His family recently discussed his situation with a local newspaper in Kansas City where he resides. While he has his good days and bad days, his wife Ardie says the dementia keeps her on her toes as Sayers does things like trying to wash his hand with carpet cleaner.

Known as one of the best running backs in NFL history, Sayers sued the NFL in 2014 claiming he suffered from loss of memory, depression, and other problems such as Alzheimer’s. This is a sad reality for older football players but we’ll continue to keep his family lifted. See more of the exclusive interview with Sayer’s family HERE.
