Most known for her role in Orange Is The New Black, Laverne Cox stars in Grandma as Deathy, the tattoo-artist friend of Elle Reid played by Lily Tomlin, a lesbian poet who needs $630 before sundown for an abortion for her granddaughter.
She talks to the Tom Joyner Morning Show about her upbringing in Mobile, AL, dealing with bullying, what happened when she tried her hand at reality television auditioning for Diddy, her twin brother and much more!
Her life before OITNB:
“I was auditioning a lot. I was working on my craft. I was working at a drag queen restaurant there a couple times a week.”
Auditioning for I Want To Work For Diddy in 2008:
“I never wanted wanted to do reality television, my brother said don’t do it because you want have any control over your story. Its still one of the craziest things I ever done. It was a really positive experience for my community.”
