Meet Tiffany Of The Werk Place Blog, one of our new resident fashionistas. Each week, she’ll be bringing you tips and tricks on how to make the most of your closet and your budget here on the NEW and improved Hello Beautiful!
Some people are lucky enough to live in places where it’s warm all year. The rest of us have to wait until the summer months to emerge from hibernation. As we shed our layers of cashmere and vampy nail polish, cabin fever-stricken individuals unite at happy hours and rooftops accross America. Whether you participated in cuffing season or not, it is officially over. With all of this mingling, you will probably find yourself with a date (or three) lined up sooner than later!
After exchanging witty banter with that cutie at that party last weekend, you have finally exchanged numbers with your new potential summer love. The date is set at the perfect spot and anxiety kicks in because what will you wear!? The answer is simple; wear whatever you want! But, as @abelleinbk would say, “You catch fish with bait”. So, know your audience and werk it.
If you are a boho-chic chick going on your first date with the musician you met playing in at the hipster bar, we want you giving Zoe Kravitz REALNESS. Perhaps you met your new boo at an Urban League black tie event that you organized. You better be the fiercest debutante in the room with pearls swinging and bow-ties snatched off in your wake. If you think of yourself as a demure flower, you probably want to cover up and wear soft makeup. If you are Rihanna’s spirit animal, you may or may not want to wear a bra. Whatever your style, rock it and accentuate your best assets.
Even though we all have our own flair, everyone can dabble in these trends below to add a current spin to their personal look.
THE WERK PLACE:
Two of our favorite trends this season are stripes and fringe. Check out @thewerkplace‘s very own Tiffany in this adventurous and cute ensemble combining the two! This would be a fun look for an edgy girl meeting bae at a trendy new restaurant. And yes, we’ve broken the rule of showing boobs and legs at the same time. Sue us.
LONDON TALL GIRL:
Then, there is Marsha from @londontallgirl in this sophisticated look with her take on stripes. This is a perfect ensemble to transition from work to drinks for someone who likes to look pretty but prefers pants and a more structured appearance.
We also love @tosha_eason of Bambi’s Armoire’s vision on fringe with this sleek outfit which is to die for. Love the shoes, dress, hair, and jacket. Love it.
At the end of the day, you want to be authentic, confident, and comfortable in whatever you wear during your first date.
