In a country besieged by violence and a tight battle between President Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari, Nigerians turned out to have their vote counted. The elections have drawn international praise despite some pockets of violence. The UN Secratary General Ban-Ki Moon had this to say.

While there was some violence and technical problems, Dr. Chidi Odinkalu, chair of the National Human Rights Commission of Nigeria said of today’s elections: “I Feel Awesomely Proud To Be Nigerian”
