Jacque Reid talks to Tamela, the mother of a 10-year-old who is battling Sickle Cell disease and with the help of St. Jude Hospital’s program which has helped Elechi developed cells that don’t sickle.

“The new baby screening is why we really thought she might have sickle cell so we went back at six weeks to confirm that she did have it. After about six months she wold become very ill. She would run fevers and we’d take her to the hospital every two weeks,” she said.
