Queen Latifah wears many hats – rapper, actress, singer, producer and now talk show host with her own self-titled show heading into its second season. The New Jersey native says so far, she’s enjoying the ride.
“I’m having fun,” she told the Tom Joyner Morning Show. “It’s almost like I left for the summer and came back an entirely new person. I walked backed onto Big Sexy (her set) and I said “Yeah, this is my house.’ It feels like home and I’m not caught up and hung on on the things that I was on Year One. So I just want everybody that’s taking a look at the show, if they haven’t seen it in a while, come on back.”
The show’s “Dating Game” segment with Toni Braxton was a recent highlight, something Latifah says is made possible by her syndication deal with Sony, which has the rights to many of the classic game shows of the past. They did a similar segment with comedian Sheryl Underwood which also went over well.
Guests on the show’s first week included Wild star Reese Weatherspoon and Little League World Series player Mo’ne Davis. Upcoming guests include Snoop Dogg, Kevin Bacon, and Kym Whitley.
On a personal note, Latifah’s mother, Rita Owens who has bee suffering with scleroderma , is now doing much better, she says.
Here Latifah talk about some of her favorite guests and listen to the entire interview above!
