VIA THE WASHINGTON POST:

Prince George’s County sheriff’s deputies shot and wounded a man early Thursday morning after the man apparently rammed one of them with a car outside Club Elite in Temple Hills, authorities said.

The incident started shortly after 1 a.m. in the parking lot of the club, which is located in the Rosecroft Shopping Center, authorities said.

A fight broke out and two off-duty sheriff’s deputies providing security for the club tried to break it up, said Sgt. Yakeisha Hines, a sheriff’s office spokeswoman.

The suspects “turned on the deputies,” Hines said. After a short struggle, one of them jumped in a car and rammed a male deputy. That deputy and another female deputy on the scene opened fire, striking the suspect in the car, Hines said.

The deputy hit by the car and the suspect hit by gunfire were both transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Hines said.

Two other people involved in the fight were also transported to the hospital for precautionary reasons, she said.

Hines declined to release the names of any of those involved. It was unclear how the fight started, she said. County police are investigating the incident.

The deputies who fired their weapons will be placed on routine administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation, Hines said.
