(Washington, DC)  —  DC Congressional Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton will join DC Mayor Vincent Gray today to warn of the dire effects the federal shutdown will have on locals, workers and visitors.  Gray and Norton are asking people living in the city to join them in calling for an end to the shutdown at 11 a.m. on the East Lawn of U.S. Capitol.  Yesterday, Mayor Gray sent a letter to President Obama and the leaders of the House and Senate requesting an immediate meeting to discuss ways to alleviate the consequences facing the city due to its lack of budget autonomy.  DC has been operating on reserve funds that are expected to run out next week.
