(Arlington Co., VA) — Thieves are making off with tires and rims from a number of vehicles in the Arlington area. At particular risk are the wheels of Honda’s “Fit” and “Civic” models which according to Triple-A, can be used for street racing and pull high prices on the illegal parts market.
Arlington County police say more than half of the 42 reported tire and rim thefts involved Honda vehicles. As police continue to search for suspects, they are offering the public some tips to keep their cars safe. Police suggest parking in a secure garage if possible, installing car alarm systems and wheel locks and setting up motion detecting lights outside of the home.
