Dear Mr. Joyner:

My name is Renee Magee and my Christmas wish is for my husband, Ricky Magee sr. to have help with getting the kitchen up and running in our home.   My family and I were displaced during hurricane Katrina back in 2005 and have spent the following years trying to get back on our feet.

My husband’s mother died a year after the hurricane, never returning back from evacuation.  he inherited her home, which had been unoccupied for about 4-5 years and in desperate need of renovation. Since then, Ricky has slowly and painfully been doing all the repair work himself using our limited resources.  We were unable to get any help from FEMA or any other organizations, because the deed was not in his name at the time.

Mr., Joyner, our kitchen has been in a state of disrepair since we moved in. It has been a nightmare trying to prepare our meals without appliances, being surrounded by a shell of a kitchen. We are eating microwavable dinners or going out for fast food and we’re all getting cranky, unhealthy and tired of the whole thing.   it is my Christmas wish to ask for your help, so we can finally put this kitchen mess behind us.  Ricky will provide the labor, but he needs building materials, the cabinets, refrigerator and dishwasher to complete what he has started.

Please, help us before we lose our minds, Renee Magee.
