John Archer served the community as chair of several organizations, including the Whitley Council Staff Committee and a member of the Wandsworth Board of Guardians. He died in July 1932 at age 69.

His legacy remains with several buildings in London, including the Archer House school in Battersea. He is number 72 on the BBC’s 100 Greatest Britons list.
