Did you know Will Smith was originally offered the role of Django in Django Unchained? Will Smith recently opened up about his decision to turn down the role in the controversial remix directed by Quentin Tarantino. Smith who previously told Empire in an interview that the reason for his decision was based on a lack of time to discuss things with Tarantino and a previous obligation as he was in the process of  filming the third installment of Men In Black. Smith has repeatedly indulged in how amazing he believed the screenplay would be and his admiration for Tarantino’s vision, however, he believed that Django should be the lead ultimately being the reason he turned the role down. Smith believed the character of Django was second to Dr. Schultz, played by Christopher Waltz. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Smith went on to say:

“Django wasn’t the lead, so it was like, I need to be the lead. The other character was the lead… I was like ‘No, Quentin, please, I need to kill the bad guy…I thought it was brilliant. Just not for me.”
