water-crisisA 54 inch water main Monday night near the intersection of Connecticut Avenue and Chevy Chase Lake Drive is the cause for a mandatory water restriction to all Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) customers, residential and business, in Prince George’s and Montgomery counties.

There are no customers without water service, however, WSSC asks that all customers cut their water use by ten percent. They recommend shorter showers, limiting flushing toilets, waiting to wash clothes if possible, and limiting the use of dishwashers.

Violations carry a fine of up to $500.
