Scoring

Scoring will take place as follows: each judge will rate the teams based on the nine categories.  The highest judge’s score and the lowest judge’s score from each team will be eliminated. The average of the remaining scores will be a team’s final score. The highest average wins.

Ties

In the event that there is a tie for first place, the two teams will compete in a “stroll-off” (or “party-hop” competition). Both teams will be given three (3) minutes to organize their stroll. The two teams will perform in the same sequence as they did in the step show. Each team will have a different song randomly chosen by the DJ. Once cued, a team has three (3) minutes

of performance time. After the team’s performance each judge will individually raise a score card ranging from 1 – 10 (“1” being the lowest and “10” being the highest). The team with the highest tally wins grand prize while the other team receives the runner-up prize.

Penalties

Exceeding the 12-minute time limit

The timekeeper will have the duty of enforcing the time limit.  There will be a 12-minute time limit for each step team.  Time begins when the first stepper comes on stage. Violation of this will result in a 5-point deduction by each judge.  No exceptions!!!

Profanity/Derogatory Language

Profane references will result in a 5-point deduction by each judge. Since this is a PG-13 show it is strongly advised that step teams use edited versions of music.

Grounds for Disqualification

Routines of an explicitly sexual nature, which includes lewd and crass behavior.

This includes routines that depict sexual intercourse or other sex acts in all of its forms.  Violation of this rule will result in disqualification.
