Award Winning Actress Meryl Streep and spokeswoman for The National Women’s History Museum saluted Cathy HughesFounder and Chairperson of Radio One Inc., with its highest honor at The First de Pizan Awards Gala Wednesday, November 16th, 2011 at The Ronald Reagon Building in Washington, DC. Ms. Hughes received The “Ida B. Wells-Barnett Living Legacy Award” for her accomplishments in media and communications.
Other 2011 honorees included: Hedy Lamarr and Marissa Mayer in the fields of telecommunications and technology and Admiral Grace Hopper and Helen Greiner for their work in computer technology and digital innovation.

Founded in 1996, The National Women¹s History Museum is a nonpartisan, nonprofit educational institution dedicated to preserving, interpreting, and celebrating the diverse historic contributions of women and integrating this rich heritage fully into our nation’s history, currently located online at underway to purchase federally owned land on which to build the National Women¹s History Museum.
