Longtime EPMD affiliate DJ Scratch tweeted: “Erick Sermon had a heart attack today,” Scratch wrote. “He’s ok, but still send your prayers. He is not on Twitter.”

The news comes just days after rapper Heavy D passed away in a Los Angeles hospital Tuesday after collapsing at his condominium building.

The duo [EPMD] rose to fame in the late 1980s with their debut album, Strictly Business, which featured the underground hit “Strictly Business,” based on a sample of Eric Clapton’s version of Bob Marley’s “I Shot the Sheriff.”
