(Landover, MD)- A few hundred parishioners from the Jericho City of Praise church in Landover gathered last night to show support for their pastor.

After church founder Betty Peebles died last year, her will stated that control of the 10-thousand member church be turned over to a six-member board.  The congregation now says that board is trying to oust Betty’s son Joel Peebles who has been helping to lead the parrish for the past 20 years.

Church members are holding worship services every night this week, saying they will refuse to let the board get rid of the pastor.  The congregation has gathered more than one-thousand signatures on a petition demanding that the board support Pastor Peebles.
