A planned tribute concert for Michael Jackson, which is slated to happen at the same time as his murder trial, has raised the Jackson family’s suspicions of the organizer’s motives.

“Staging the concert during his manslaughter trial isn’t the right time,” Gary Taylor, owner of the 80,000-member Jackson fan club MJJ Community, tells Billboard.com.

Michael Forever: The Tribute Concert, set to take place Oct. 8 in Wales’, has raised the family’s and fans’ concerns when organizers began collecting donations for charities during ticket sales. Chris Hunt, the British film producer who is an organizer for the event declined to say precisely how much of the proceeds would go to charity.

The lack of a concrete commitment to the charities has troubled some fans. Ticket buyers were asked when they registered online to give an amount to charity above the ticket price, which ranges from $90 to $300, leading some fan organizations to wonder if the event was a for-profit concert in disguise.
