(Washington, DC)  —  DC’s Office of Campaign Finance is auditing Vincent Gray’s mayoral campaign amid allegations it accepted cash contributions above the legal limit.  The “Post” says records also show donations coming from people who claim they never gave money to Gray’s campaign.  The paper also says there were a number of cash donations that exceeded the city’s 25-dollar limit, and that Gray’s campaign would also exchange cash for money orders, which has a higher donation limit.  The campaign would then report the contribution as a money order donation, which is a violation of city law.  Those who violated the city’s campaign laws can be fined thousands of dollars and face time behind bars.
