Job Description Summary: PERMIT SPECIALIST (Department of Planning & Growth Management/ Codes, Permits, & Inspection Services Division) Review permit applications for completeness; conduct extensive pre-application meetings with applicants and reviewers; calculate, verify, and enter fees for permits. Perform technical pre-screening of site plans for requirements and advise applicants on the permit application process and requirements. Act as a liaison between applicants and reviewers, providing information on the status and requirements for a permit. Successful candidate must be able to interpret recorded record plats, engineered site plans, and residential and commercial construction plans, and must be able to use architects and engineers scale. Must be able to perform area calculations and calculate and/or determine permit application and review fees. Requires high school diploma or GED; and three years of related office clerical experience. Base salary: $36,330. Closing date: 9/04/09.
