R&B star Mary J. Blige is heading to “American Idol.” People.com reports the singer has agreed to serve as a guest judge on Fox’s hit singing competition. Blige will join fellow musicians Victoria Beckham and Katy Perry as guest judges on the upcoming season. “Idol’s” judges’ panel has been making headlines of late due to the departure of longtime “Idol” judge Paula Abdul. Abdul reportedly asked for 20-million-dollars to continue with her judging duties, but “Idol” executives were only willing to give her a 30 percent raise on her two-million-dollar salary. Last week, “American Idol” wrapped up auditions in Boston for their upcoming season. The show’s ninth installment is slated to get underway in January.
