(Richmond, VA)  —  Today is “Dorothy Irene Height Day” in Virginia.  Governor Bob McDonnell has issued a proclamation saying the state will celebrate the life of the one-time preeminent female civil rights leader, who was a Virginia native.  Height was born 99 years ago today.  She died in April of last year at the age of 98.
