(Washington, DC)  –Doctors at Howard University and Georgetown University hospitals are launching a new effort to tackle colon cancer in the District.    A press conference was held yesterday announcing the campaign aimed at getting men and women between the ages of 50 and 64 to take advantage of free cancer screenings.  African Americans in particular are at high risk of getting colon cancer.  Residents are being urged to make an appointment for a free screening by calling Howard University Hospital at 202-865-7741 or Georgetown University Hospital at 202-469-2338.
