(Washington, DC)  —  Members of the Virginia Task Force One continue their search and rescue efforts in earthquake and tsunami-ravaged Japan.  Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Battalion Chief Chris Schaff says the 74-member team faces a daunting task and they have been searching in a grid pattern along the shoreline where the tsunami came ashore.

Chief Schaff says the team is far enough away from the threat of nuclear radiation from the troubled Fukushima [[ Foo-koo-SHEE-mah ]] Dalichi nuclear plant and hazardous materials specialists are keeping the team informed about hazardous materials in the area.
