VIA MYFOXDC:

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. – A Prince George’s County jury has deadlocked on the most serious charges against a man charged in the deaths of eight people at an illegal street race.

The jury convicted 20-year-old Tavon Taylor on Monday of driving in an illegal street race and reckless driving. But after deliberating for 15 hours over two days, jurors could not reach a unanimous verdict on the eight counts of vehicular manslaughter.

State’s Attorney Glenn Ivey says he looks forward to retrying those counts.

Prosecutors say Taylor was racing with 21-year-old Darren Bullock when Bullock slammed into a crowd in the road watching a different race, killing eight people. Bullock pleaded guilty to eight counts of vehicular manslaughter.

Taylor’s lawyers say he was not racing.
