(Washington, DC)  —   The Washington area is in for a soaking today and people living in low-lying areas have been getting ready for the chance of flooding. The City of Alexandria and the District have been handing out sandbags to area residents who are concerned about rising waters.

To prepare for the storm, Metro says it has made arrangements to bring in water removal equipment and chain saws for storm-damaged tree branches.  The transit agency is also monitoring areas where water has been high and is adding sandbags.
